Tapestry By Rosalind McGary

“Art is not a luxury as many people think- it is a necessity. It documents history - it helps educate people and stores knowledge for generations to come”.

  • Civic Engagement Through the Arts

We empower residents to use creativity as a tool for voice, visibility, and policy impact. Through arts-centered advocacy, public forums, cultural literacy, and community-led dialogue, we help Compton residents influence decisions about public art, cultural resources, and neighborhood development. Our work strengthens civic participation by making it accessible, expressive, and community-driven.

  • Creative Placemaking & Cultural Preservation

We activate public space through art, storytelling, and community memory. Our Creative Placemaking and Cultural Preservation work uplifts the voices of Compton’s artists, elders, youth, and culture-keepers to strengthen neighborhood identity, celebrate heritage, and advocate for an official Cultural Arts District. Through public art, civic engagement, and community-rooted design, we help shape places where creativity, culture, and community thrive.

  • Supporting the CA Creative Economy

We help artists build sustainable creative careers by expanding access to commissions, competitive wages, and paid opportunities across California’s creative economy. Through professional development, small-business support, an Artist Referral Directory, and resource navigation, we ensure that local artists are hired, paid fairly, and positioned to thrive as cultural workers and creative entrepreneurs.
